Canines from the Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) receive free haircuts and baths by Mark Imhof,
who also provides elderly shelter dogs with free haircuts. Mark, who holds an MBA from New York University, was wrapping up a consulting assignment when his girlfriend advised him to change careers.
“I observed the delight I got when I connected with animals, and I didn’t want to see myself hunt for another profession without a soul.”
In addition, Erin O’Sullivan from Susie’s Senior Dogs served as inspiration for the man. He and his fiancé had already taken home two dogs from the rescue organization.
Mark enrolled at the American Academy of Pet Grooming in order to pursue his ambition of assisting animals by becoming a qualified dog groomer. When he and his partner thought back to how filthy his dogs were when they were adopted from the shelter, an idea was formed.
He offered free grooming to the dogs at the ACC in the hopes that the extra care would make them feel as well as look better.
Just like young puppies, older shelter dogs want affection. Since they are sadly invisible in some people’s eyes due to their advanced age and occasionally sloppy look.
Mark makes it a point to stop by animal shelters in New York City to offer elderly dogs free baths and groomings and to assist them in finding a home.
“I have witnessed many incredible animal makeovers, and I am confident that their owners will shower them with love in their new homes. Sean was my first shelter dog, and when they brought him to me, he had behavioral issues that made him unadoptable.
