Discovering the newborn baby wrapped in a towel thrown in the landfill, the dog Blacky ran to find help,
barking until he was noticed and led to the place where the baby was abandoned. Earlier this month, Junrell Fuentes Revilla was riding his motorbike through the mountains of Cebu,
Philippines, when suddenly a dog ran out of nowhere to chase him. The dog didn’t stop barking as if he wanted to say something to Junrell.
Sensing that something was wrong, Junrell stopped his motorbike and ran in the direction of the dog to see where it was leading him. Finally, the dog took him to a dump where a tiny package was lying there.
As it turned out, this was a newborn baby boy wrapped in a brown scarf and abandoned.Thanks to the help of the hero dog, the baby was saved in time and taken to the nearest police station.
The touching story quickly spread on Philippine social networks and attracted many comments praising the dog. “Not all heroes wear capes and not all of them are human,” one user wrote.
To learn more about the story and the hero dog, Bored Panda contacted Gea Ybarita, administrator of the nonprofit organization Hope for Strays in Cebu.
Ybarita said the organization initially thought the dog was a stray, stray dog. So they went in search of it and brought it up for adoption.
When Ybarita’s group arrived at the mountain dump, they couldn’t find the dog. “A few minutes later, a guy on a motorbike passed by and we showed him pictures of the dog to ask where it was.
Turns out, this person is the owner of the dog. It’s lucky and relieved,” Ybarita said. The dog is named Blacky. Blacky’s owner, Lyndon Olingay, later invited members of an animal rescue organization
to his home to meet the hero dog. “His family is all dog lovers. In addition to Blacky, they also have 4 other large dogs and 5 other puppies. The Olingay family are genuine, humble and kind people
I will never forget the words my owner Blacky once said: ‘No matter how difficult life is, no matter how poor I am, I will raise my dogs and take good care of them’. That’s probably why both he and the dogs he has are so cute and cuddly,” added Ybarita.
